Half-Life Source is a Crappy way to play the original Half-Life.This so-called port to the source engine is not really the best way to play Half-Life today, but it's a okay experience.The reason why I can't recommend Half-Life Source is because it's Buggy is all Hell. There are No Official or Unofficial Patches for this game, so instead I would recommend the original Half-Life over this one. But if you really want to play this version for some reason, then I will leave a Guide here showing you some 'Cosmetic fixes' you need, a few tweaks, and some third-party programs you need to open or extract certain files.If you want a full review of this game, go read my Half Life review. WinRARYou do need WinRAR to extract these files. Weird and ugly shine effects on walls and Floors.Type in the developer console matspecular 0 or +matspecular 0 in your lunch options. Half Life 1 Source No Steam Games
If you already know how to do this you can skip this. 'Source Engine Sound Replacements'.This fixes or changes the sound effects to the original GoldSrc sounds. For some reason it uses the source engines default sound effects, which to me sounds out of place for the original Half-Life. This mod is Optionable.
'HL:S Sound fixes'.This fixes even more sound effects. 'Hafl-life 1 Blood Style'.This is a Black Mesa mod, but it also works in HL:S as well.What you need to do to get this effect to work is to.-Open the 'HLBloodStyle.vpk' and then extract the files anywhere or to your custom folder.-Open the particles folder and rename 'fxblood.pcf' to 'bloodimpact.pcf' and remove 'gibfx.pcf'.After that you'll get Half-Life's classic blood effect as seen here.
'Half-Life 1 Blood Decals'.This is a Counter-Strike source decals mod, but it is compatible with HL:S. For people that wants to use the High-Definition models.There is a little checkbox in the options menu for HD models. Most of the weapon models do work but have missing reloading sounds. This mod fixes these problem.The animations are a bit janky, but they do work for the most part.Fixing the 'Gibs' sounds is kinda tricky.

I'll tell you the file names and where you should put these WAV files. Fixing the sounds involves some modification which you have to do yourself.AKA, 'You need to make falling meat sounds'.
